Enrolment Procedure

PSI has ongoing enrolment, which means that students may apply throughout the year. However, placement is subject to space availability and the criteria outlined in our enrolment process.

The following Grades are closed for both local and expat applications for the school year 2020/21:

Grade 3
Grade 4
Grade 5
Grade 9

Prospective applicants will be considered unless there is reason to believe that admission is not in the best interest of the applicant or the school.

Please find below a 'How To', explaining the process of uploading documents to our Admissions Portal. Please note that we are unable to do this for families. It is important for you to know that incomplete applications will not be considered.

How to Apply to PSI

Once you have decided to apply to PSI, our goal is to make the process as smooth and pleasant as possible. Once we receive your application, we will forward it for consideration. This process can take 1 or 2 weeks. All applicants must complete the application form and submit all required documentation from the checklist in English. Please note that we are unable to complete the application for families. It is important for you to know that incomplete applications will not be considered.

Step 3 - Admission Testing

Children who have successfully completed the Applications Checklist and for whom we have a space at the desired grade level are asked to complete admissions testing, as follows.

Primary

EC3, EC4 and KG (Kindergarten)

'Play date' assessment event - organised after 15 April, where families are invited by registrar after April 15.

G1 to G5. Locals only:

WIDA test to determine their English level in reading, writing, speaking and listening.
A mathematics test in English is administered to the applicant on campus.

Secondary

Grades 6 - 12:

The completion of online testing and the submission of a writing sample, all of which must be done under supervision either here at PSI or at the student’s current school.

Grades 11 and 12

A meeting (online or in person) with the PSI IB Diploma Coordinator and the counsellor.
A review for possible admissions will only be undertaken when all documentation is complete.

Step 4: The Admissions Review Process

Applicants who successfully complete the checklist and the testing are reviewed using the process outlined below.

Note: New students in good standing from foreign embassy staff and international companies can confirm enrolment at any point prior to their arrival, provided that PSI can guarantee that there will be a space at the grade level to which they are applying, and that the family can provide confirmation of their relocation to Kyiv.

Step 5 - Admission

A review panel of appropriate staff members is responsible for making an admissions recommendation; however, final decisions are made by the School Director. In making a decision, the review panel is informed by a set of criteria that addresses the diverse characteristics and capacity of the particular grade for which the student is applying. The panel also considers the fit between the School and the applicant’s profile. In addition, the policy regarding enrolment priority is adhered to.
